A
two week turn round on bespoke work is normally offered, but because all the framing
is carried out on the premises we can generally meet customers deadlines when
work is urgently required . We generally
stock well over a hundred different mouldings:- - Plain
woods - pine, ash, oak, ramin, tulip wood, lime, obeche
- Wood
veneers
- Stained woods
- Contemporary black
/ white block
- Aluminium sections ( obtained
to order)
- Gold / silver, painted, distressed or leaf
finish
- Plastic composition mainly wood
effect, black, gold or silver
Hand Finishing: The
plain woods can be left plain or waxed with traditional beeswax to give a polished
finish which offers a certain amount of protection against dirt etc.. Most types
of wood are suitable for liming, in the traditional manner of applying a liming
cream with steel wool, then wax polishing to remove the surplus liming leaving
the characteristic blue/grey lime in the grain of the wood. Needlecraft We
have a great deal of experience in framing needlecraft -
find out more here. Pricing Range There is a
selection of mouldings in all price bands. The plastic composition mouldings are
comparatively, size for size, cheaper than wood mouldings, so we are able to produce
larger 'poster' type frames at a more reasonable cost than their wooden equivalents. Conservation
Framing We are able to offer a good range of acid free conservation mounting
boards, barrier paper and backing board. Although we do not at present stock U.V.
control glass, we can get this to order where the ultimate protection is needed
for precious artwork. Box Frames There
are many more deep rebate frames available now, so it is quite an easy matter
to make box frames - although there is often quite an increase in the labour cost
to frame 3D artwork, because of the challenges that can arise. These
are just some of the items we have framed in 'box' type frames. -

Mounting
Boards We generally keep about 40 different colours in standard and conservation
quality. These are chosen from several different ranges and most are 1400microns
thick. All are white core although we do occasionally use standard core boards
on the ready made fames. Most modern mountboards are termed
ph neutral but we do keep designated conservation boards. |
